Your kidneys filter your entire blood supply every hour. They regulate blood pressure, produce red blood cells, strengthen bones through vitamin D, and remove waste — quietly, constantly, without complaint.

Until something goes wrong.

Chronic Kidney Disease affects more than 1 in 7 American adults. High blood pressure and diabetes — both more prevalent in Black communities — are the two leading causes. And because CKD often has no symptoms in early stages, many people don't know they have it until it's advanced.

Small habits protect kidney health:

  • Drink water consistently
  • Reduce sodium and added sugars
  • Stay active (150 minutes/week)
  • Take medications as prescribed
  • Stay current on checkups

When kidneys fail, the only options are dialysis or transplant. Twelve people die every day in the U.S. waiting for a kidney. Awareness and early action change that math.
